Board of Members Meeting of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) and the Meeting of Secretaries-General was held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, as part of the 7th Congress of the AACC.
The Board of Members Meeting was chaired by Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov, President of the AACC and Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and attended by representatives of 18 member institutions.
The meeting addressed issues including expanding the Association’s membership, strengthening international cooperation, and organizing joint training programmes to enhance the professional skills of judicial staff.
The Congress also adopted the “Samarkand Declaration,” which addresses key issues including safeguarding the independence of constitutional courts, protecting human rights and equality, ensuring human oversight of the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, and strengthening cybersecurity of courts.
