International Forum on Constitutional Justice held in Astana

The International Forum on Constitutional Justice, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held in Astana on September 12, 2025, under the theme “Peace and the Future through Law”.

The international forum was attended by the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, Mr. G.Bayasgalan, and Justice Mr. J.Erdenebulgan. Chairmen and Chief Justices of constitutional review bodies, representatives, and legal scholars from 15 countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa participated in the event, giving presentations and holding discussions.

On the eve of the international forum, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr.  Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, received and held an official meeting with Mr. Bayasgalan Gungaa, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, Ms. Claire Bazy Malaurie, President of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, Mr. Luke Malaba, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe and President of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa, and Mr. Mohammed Hamad Mohammed Al Badi Al Dhaheri, President of the Federal Supreme Court of the United Arab Emirates and President of the Union of Arab Constitutional Courts and Councils.

During that meeting, President K.Tokayev presented Kazakhstan’s focus on technology-based development, its goal of widely introducing artificial intelligence, and making a full digital transition. He also shared his position on the reform of the parliamentary system and expressed his interest in continuing the cooperation between the constitutional review bodies in the future

The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, Mr. G.Bayasgalan, and Justice Mr. J.Erdenebulgan, were also received by the Chairperson of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Elvira Azimova, and they exchanged views on strengthening the traditional friendly relations and cooperation between the two institutions and further effective cooperation within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year.
